Cookie Policy

A cookie is a small file a website stores on your device. This site keeps them to a minimum: the ones needed to make pages work, and — where enabled — privacy-respecting analytics. There is no advertising or cross-site tracking.

  1. Strictly necessary cookies

These make the site function: keeping your place as you move between pages, protecting forms against abuse, and remembering that an enquiry has been submitted so you are not shown the form again. They do not identify you personally and cannot be switched off without breaking the site.

    • Set by: this website.
    • Retention: session cookies are deleted when you close the browser; form-state cookies last up to 12 months.
    • Lawful basis: strictly necessary — no consent required.

Separately, the interactive tools store your answers in your browser's local storage — for example the answers in the clearance cost estimator — so you can come back to them. That data stays on your device, is never sent to us, and is cleared when you clear your browser data.

  2. Analytics cookies

Where analytics are enabled, they tell us which pages are read, how visitors arrive, and where people give up — so we can improve the guides. They are not used to build a profile of you or to target advertising.

    • Analytics provider and exact cookie names: available on request.
    • Retention: available on request (typically up to 24 months).
    • Lawful basis: consent, where required.
  3. Advertising and tracking cookies

We do not set advertising, remarketing or social-media tracking cookies on this site. If that ever changes, this page and the last-updated date will change with it before any such cookie is set.

  4. How to block or delete cookies

Every browser lets you block or delete cookies, usually under Settings → Privacy and security:

    • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies / Delete browsing data.
    • Safari: Settings → Privacy → Block all cookies, or Manage Website Data.
    • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
    • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies.

Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of this site working — forms in particular.
